Remembering a face and knowing whether or not you’ve seen that person before is a critical skill for investigators in all fields and niche specialties.

So is being able to “place the face;” knowing when and in what context you’ve seen that person.

Here is a link to a great facial recognition test… http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/sleep/tmt/instructions_1.shtml There are two parts

Well, I scored 95% on recognition, but only 69% on when I saw it.

I didn't time it, but I took the trash out and then washed my hands and got a cup of coffee. I was also able to locate my coffee cup even though the identifying label that says "Dad" was turned to the rear. Very Happy All kidding aside though. I wonder if repeating the test with other photos routinely as an exorcise, might actually train the brain to store information more effectively.

Many lives have been ruined by a condition known as repressed memory syndrome.

A young adult seeks treatment for a mental condition and is somehow convinced or persuaded by another person that their problem is because when they were a child, they suffered some form of trama or abuse, that may or may not have happened, but they become convinced that it did.

QUESTION: Do you believe it is also possible that a person who confesses to a crime he/she did not committ could be led to do so because of the persuasion of another person?

This is some information I found on improving OBSERVATION SKILLS;

Use a magazine to practice observation skills. Look at a picture containing many items. Study it for a few minutes and then look away. Write down everything you observed. Then look at the picture again to see what you missed.

Observation of people requires a mental file of characteristics. The most important are: Gender, height, weight, age, race and clothing. Other characteristics helpful for positive identification are:
Scars, teeth, hair, eyes, nose, ears, speech, manner of walking, tattoos and personality.

Besides a license plate numberr other descriptive items of an automobile include: Model, color, body style, and especially characteristics of the occupants. Also, note dents, customized details and other features that make the vehicle different from usual.

Being the wise as* and my own worst enemy!
I think with the extra pictures ...we (L.E.O.s) are trained to count features, people etc to help remember perps, witnesses etc. I COUNTED WHICH PIX WERE B/W OR COLOR MALE FEMALE,COUPLES ASIANS, ETC. i AM SILLY THAT WAY!!
UH OH I'M LATE!

OK I THOUGHT I SCREWED MY SELF I DID A LITTLE THOUGH 96% RECOGNITION 85% TEMPORAL! NOT FOR THINKING WITH MY DIPSTICK (OR STEPPING ON IT! Love that commercial!) BAD JIMMY! NOT BAD FOR ALL THOSE BRAIN CELLS I BURNED!
