1 non identifying information
2 birth certificate
3 final decree of adoption
4 state birth index
Non ID Info: This is the info in the adoption file that describes the adoption as a whole. This info is most helpful for a search with sealed records. Laws vary by state but the important part of the non id info is as follows Birthmothers first name only ( see state law ) birthmothers age
at the time of birth where the BM was from BM family // relative history ( grandmother grandfather uncle mother etc... ) No names are given first or last. Medical info on the birthmother, family as well as the adopted child. The medical info can and most likely will tell of any family health problems on the birthmothers side. The non id info can may or will
have a description of the BM weight height race s-e-x eyes hair etc...
The BM religion may also be included. In short the non id info can or may include the whole adoption record minus anything that will id the BM
depending on state law This info also applies to the father. The info varies by state and may be availiable if the father is known Full non id info should be availiable if the father is present. If the father is absent
whatever the BM says goes.
Here is a tip: the non id info may have a doctors name on it somewhere.
That doctor is not required to keep his practice private And may tell the whole story without breaking the law
Thanx

Birth Certificates
As usual laws vary by state
The birth certificate is a key document in some states
Altered birth certificates appear as such!!!
The birthdate of a person is not altered for adoption purposes
The name of the child will be that which the adoptive parents give
The adoptive parents will be shown as the people that the child was born to alive. A birth certificate that has been altered through adoption is
not much help to a searcher with sealed adoption records Some states will allow the adoptive child to get their real birth certificate upon the age of majority. Tip: In most states trying to get a copy of the original birth certificate will not ever happen do not take time trying to get this info.
again see state law in reference to birth certificates //adoptions
Thanx

Final Decree Of Adoption:
This is a document that completes the adoption process
Again laws vary by state. The average decree appears as such :
By order of the court BLAH BLAH !! Today is the day that the adoption is complete. after waiting periods and the like the childs name will be known from this day foward as such..
Said childs name shall be changed to Chris Kringle
Said childs name will be changed from Baby boy//male baby//baby girl
// female baby etc.. The mothers last name is usually on this form but
the original copy is not given to the adoptee ( see non id info )
Tip: some copies of this type of document may be older accordingly the mothers last name may be blanked out with older technology
a simple light table May allow you to see through the scribble
Thanx

State Birth Index:
Again laws vary by state!!! The average birth index appears as follows.
The fereral govt has the master birth index
At the state level here is what you will need and may find!!
The state birth index by state by county by birthdate
The birth date on the altered birth certificate is real as well as the county and state. Within this index by state by county by birthdate you will find the mothers last name!!! This list will have all of the births and the maiden last names and married last names of all the BM
It will also have the childs first name Again all laws vary by state
Tip: Most mothers that give a child for adoption are not married
accordingly within the birth index the mothers maiden name will show up twice as maiden and married and the childs name will be blank Or
baby boy// baby girl etc...
Thanx

Common adoption types::
Public : Often times has sealed records
Private : This means that probably there were no state agencys involved other than the court ( this is a very hard type of search as all the records lie within the court MOSTLY )
Open: An adoption with stipulations that may allow the adoptee to find their BM mother if desired ( may have sealed records )
I'm sure that there are other types These are some common types that I have seen
Thanx

Birth index info:
After having obtained the birth index by state, county and birthdate
The searcher will be presented with multiple last names Lots of children are born in each county everyday ( small counties and counties with fewer people are easier ) assuming that the searcher has the BM first name It is time to match up the first and last name Start with the last names of the unwed mothers Then go on to the last names of the mothers who didn't name the child. If none of this is a match then you have to go to the married last names ( many more ) Usually before the searcher gets to the married last names they have found what they seek
NOTE BM that are married are easier to find than those that aren't
In a nutshell once the searcher finds this info it is possible to find the BM
Gotta go to work
Thanx

My birth son was born on August 8, 1981 at Rolling Hill Hospital in Elkins Park, PA.
He was given to his adoptive parents on August 9, 1981. Since the records are
sealed in PA I don't know where to begin to find the birth registry you talk about.
I did contact the Attorney who handled the adoption. He told me he would speak to the adoptive parents and see what he could do for me. There has to be a way to find some clue as to who my birth son is, I would read every registry available if I had even the slightest chance of finding him. Where can I find this registry for PA adoptions?
The adoption was handled in Family Court of Doylestown, in Bucks County PA.
Any suggestions would be a true gift to me.

Hi KGOT Welcome to the forum Truthfully this type of search is very difficult. The info that I posted in reference to the state birth index is in reference to the mother.. Please read it again!!! That is not to say that this is not possible but just a bit more difficult.. I would like to know if
You were married at the time of adoption. ????? Did you name the child
at birth. ???? And what county in P.A. was he born ????? There are also more personal questions that I will have you to address later. Today I will look for more public info that may help you For the record, You have joined a free forum!!! as this site charges no fees and is not set up to do so.. Feel free to look around and please read the forum rules.
I am off work today so I will look into this issue in a few minutes
Thanx
