Here is a breakdown of the costs:

A spokesman for Larimer County Sheriff’s Department said: “We had at least 100 people working on the incident on the ground and both the Colorado Army National Guard and Federal Aviation Authority got involved too.
Deputies searched the family's home and considered going into the attic, but they "just didn't think it was possible that 6-year-old boy would be able to get up to that space, so they didn't look there,"

Sheriff: Charges will be filed in balloon saga
A sheriff said he was pursuing criminal charges in Colorado's "balloon boy" saga, which first sparked fear for the child, then relief that he was OK and now suspicions of a hoax.

Well,.. Balloon dad would probably call the current course, an unplanned trajectory.... If it were a hoax, he did not plan on getting caught. Kind of a Scooby Doo mystery.... And he would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those pesky kid's. Scooby, Scooby, Doo!!! ... LE, may have some problems with the case. First they said it was not a hoax, and then.......As I recall, and this is not an exact quote, the LE official said "We had experienced, proven investigators interview the family and we believe this was not a hoax".... Then after some pressure from the press (no pun intended) LE officials said, It was a hoax"..... This came presumably, after an even more experienced and proven investigator re-interviewed some persons, or person, presumably balloon dad, and found things the first experienced and proven investigator did not find. I hope you found this to be funny, because that is how I intended it to be. Oh yeah, and Nancy Grace, please don't call me, because I don't like the way you treat your guest's, and Jane Velez Michell, well..mmmaybe.... Ok, it's, 867-5309

I'm still up in the air on this one. Part of me thinks that it was a hoax just for the publicity, yet another part of me thinks that it's not
JL, just imagination what it'll be like if WM, LM, CM, you and I were on Jane Velez-Mitchell at the same time! |

Well if they wanted fame, they have it now. They can use talk show circuit money to pay their legal bills. |
