My husband has lost his naturalization papers and do not know the certificate number (he needs this information for job purposes). In researching (not very helpful), he was told he had to wait 1 year to receive a new one. Does anyone know who to contact to expedite the process or obtain certificate number and if he can get a letter proving citizenship while waiting for a new certificate? Thank you!

Hi Isis_kidjiv. I don't know how to speed things up in your case, but I did find the forms you will need for replacement. Possibly your congressional office may be of some help also try contacting an immigration attorney. I think you can use your passport as evidence of citizenship while you are waiting.

Thank you for your response. I will try my congressional representative and/or immigration attorney, unfortunately, the passport has expired so that is of no use.

Thank you again.!!

I just had a thought, I should have had sooner. If you used your Naturalization Certificate or Certificate of Citizenship for your passport documentation, there is a record of the certification number.

Do you know where I can obtain that info since the certificate was used to obtain the passport. Someone told me before that the citizenship/naturalization certificate number is on the passport, but do you know which set of numbers it is?

Try contacting the US Department of State. See the link below. I hope this helps, it is new territory for me, please let me know what you find.
