Tracing a person

Hello,
I am new to this discussion and have been, unsuccessfully, trying to locate one specific person.
This persons uses alias and is an accomplished Con-man.
I found a 1983 jail term and know he has had many, many other arrests. I cannot seem to find any other record. I have checked federal & state prisons. I am sure most time served was in county jails. Where do i even begin to look?
He has no DL or ID . I do have a DOB,SS# and description.
Can anyone give me a place to start Idea

Unfortunately a public records search has its limitations especially when dealing with the type of person you describe. I’m sure you realize besides his name, he most likely uses false SS numbers and DOB’s.

The information you’re seeking should be contained within a RAP sheet which has a history of arrests attributed to a person based on fingerprints. When a person is fingerprinted by a law enforcement agency, a record is generated and sent to the State central repository. The State is required to report its criminal record information to the FBI. This information is restricted to Law Enforcement and related agencies.
Regrettably I don’t know of a legal way for you to obtain a copy of someone else’s RAP sheet. If you’re a victim of a crime committed by this person and within the statue of limitations you may want to discuss this matter with a LE investigator.

Have you considering consulting a licensed professional investigator with a proven track record?

Thank you for responding.
I have not checked with a Professional at this time due to the cost.
You made a good point regarding using false SS# and DOB.
I know of one specific county he was arrested and served time in as early as 06/2002 but cannot find anything that would get me going on the right track.
Is there a way to check counties in one state without going from one county to another?

I have bookmarked the sites .
? If you know the state and county a person last served time how can you see if he is currently incarcerated?
I have checked state and federal prisons and need to know how to go about checking county jails.This person is a habitual non-violent criminal.

If your question is if he’s incarcerated in the same county, call the jail directly and ask for custody status.
