I am trying to find a person and am anxious to to pinpoint exact unit he belonged to.I do have a good idea of regiment but would like to narrow it down further can any body help?

From your profile I see you’re located in UK. Are you looking for UK military records or U.S. Army records? If not what nation?

Be aware if U.S., a fire at the NPRC in St. Louis in July 1973, destroyed about 80 percent of the records for Army personnel discharged between November 1, 1912, and January 1, 1960.

Many thanks for reply ,I have heard this,but also have found many records from books etc.Just a long shot really but I believe I know what Liner troops left USA on and was hoping to find records of passenger lists,do you know if this is possible?
