Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System

I was recently trying to find out if someone was a soldier in the Civil War. One key tool in helping me research was the National Park Service Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System. This site is very informational as it includes a database of over 6 million soldier names from 44 states and territories. This includes soldiers from the Union and Confederate sides.
